●Winner from SFHS, third prize : Tiraumoa Erua　 - 『Human Waste』 Statement: Effect of the human waste is unhealthy to our environment Introduction: From this statement I am going to discuss the effect of the human waste but I have my own understanding when I answer this question, "What is the effect of human waste?" Human waste is one of the problems that can affect the lives of the people, air that we breathe and our environment. As the result of human waste it causes a lot of various diseases and germs and passes it to the people or within the community. There are the human activities that cause disease seriously, for instance, a big family called extended family compares with a nuclear family but they live on one area. In this case I depend on extended family as an example because there are a lot more of them living in one place than the nuclear one, and they are easy to pass on the disease and spread to their neighbors. If they want to use the toilet but it is already occupied, they will go out to the bush for their toilet. From this habit the flies sit on a bad waste and carries various germs from the bush to the village and transits again and drop the germ on the food while the people are eating. In this way they get pain in the stomach, diarrhea and other problems. Therefore we must avoid this kind of problems by telling people not using the bush as their toilet because the people will be affected by various diseases from peopleﾕs bad activity as they go out to the bush. Furthermore, the people must be using the right place to pass their feces. Like I mention above that says, "What is the effect of human waste?" These are the points of avoiding these problems such as: * Asking the Ministry of Environment to provide facilities to build public toilets * Introducing composting toilet in order to use it as the manure for plants * Providing toilets in places for picnic and other recreational purposes I think that managing human waste is by providing proper facilities in the homes, in work places, schools and in the public. This is to help improve the people's health and our environment as a whole. To conclude I keep reminding people not to use the bush anymore for their toilet, especially extended families to build two or three toilets in order for them have a spare. From this I really hope our environment will not be affected by various diseases and germs problem especially our health.
